HOLIDAY DESIGN PROJECT

by GuerillaOne on Dec.23, 2008, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, STREET ART

You might have heard that the economy is struggling a bit, G1 has a solution for your holiday shopping issues. Instead of making somebody cookies, or that thing where you poor all the ingredients into a jar and tie a bow on it make them this sweet ass pencil bench. You can thank the people over at BOEX 3D. Travel to the local Salvation Army or land fill, grab a bench, head on down to Staples buy a bunch of pencils, spray paint them and you are done. Happy holidays, you just made someone a cool gift with functionality, because the pencils can be removed and used.

I never thought I would see the day when a toy rocked exclusive shit that I couldn’t even get, there is just something intriguing about vinyl toys wearing real brands and clothes that had retail runs. Coolrain is holding it down in Korea with these hand made toys.

I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT…..

by GuerillaOne on Dec.18, 2008, under Chris Grosso, VIDEO

The dragon ball movie is a bold choice. Dragon Ball suffers from the same illness that most japanese cartoons have, they look awesome, but when you sit down to watch them they are really boring. If you don’t believe me go back and watch Akira.

HOLIDAY READING

by GuerillaOne on Dec.18, 2008, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, GRAFFITI, STREET ART, THINGS YOU WISH YOU HAD

Hopefully during the holidays we all can catch a few days off, and in that time we generally find our selves bored or listless. Here are a few recommended reads from G1 to keep your mind sharp.

The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It for Life, By: Twyla Tharp

habbit.png

This book will change your life, if you are a creative person who has trouble focusing on their work or trouble figuring out how to express your creative side, this is the book for you.  It’s a very personal read and can turn the lazy and procrastinators out there into working creative beings.

The History of Los Angeles Graffiti Art (Volume 1, 1983-1988) (Hardcover) By: Robert Alva & Robert Reiling.

51w5vc4ktpl_ss400_.jpg

THIS IS A 6 LB (POUND) BOOK WITH 447 PAGES!!!! The History of Los Angeles Graffiti Art, volume one is the first in a series of four books that documents all aspects of Los Angeles graffiti art from 1983 to 2005. Focusing on the 1980s (1983 -1988), volume one recounts the first years of the graffiti movement in Los Angeles. This will be a great history lesson for all you graffiti fans, its interesting to see how the styles have changed over the decades and how artists improved over the years.

The Broom of the System By: David Foster Wallace. (R.I.P)

51az7saqbfl.jpg

This novel will blow your mind, if Quentin Tarantino, Guy Richie, Darren Aronofsky and Kevin Smith wrote a book together it would be broom of the system. It takes you in every direction, I would say more, but i do not want to spoil a moment for you.

Kingdom Come By: Mark Waid & Alex Ross(Obama Superman T-shirt)

3-1.jpg

A lot of us feel spiritual this time of year, and well, why not read your favorite heroes used as a metaphor for religion. You have Super man acting as Jesus and Bat-man or Lex luthor as the devil. I know this sounds a bit corny, but this is probably the most interesting book I have ever read and the most beautifully painted. That’s right I said painted, Alex Ross hand painted every page in this book. The characters are paralleled to biblical figures and situations through out the story that will excite any reader loosely familiar with both the DC universe and the Biblical universe.

Natural Capitalism By: Paul Hawken

This book is great for any individual who is curious to learn about the green movement from an economic perspective or industrial perspective. For a business book its a fast read and contains one jaw dropping discovery after another. If you own a business and are thinking of incorporating Eco friendly practices or products into your business model, this is the book for you.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 GETS ELECTRIC!

by GuerillaOne on Dec.18, 2008, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, MUSIC, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD

First off, our hats goes off to Panasonic for robing the brand. Even Panasonic appreciates G1. This concept for camera promotion is an interesting Idea.  They teamed up with “Busy P” from Ed Banger records, to offer 200 Justice photos he took from their last tour. It includes a lot of back stage and personal phots that fans would love. The camera itself also looks ill, not a lot of red color ways out there.

LAKERS GET THE PROPER ADIDAS TREATMENT

by GuerillaOne on Dec.18, 2008, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD, SNEAKERS, SPORTS

I am always surprised when I see team inspired shoes that I would actually wear. When a brand launches a shoe series inspired by teams, they are often corny and look like pay less shoes for 5Th graders. These on the other hand are wearable and Adidas best shoe in my opinion, the instinct HI. Laker fans can swoop these up at your local Adidas retailer. Go LAKERS!!!

IF TIM BURTON WAS A PHOTOGRAPHER

by GuerillaOne on Dec.17, 2008, under Chris Grosso, PHOTOGRAPHY

Bobby Neal Adams, is an American photographer whose works are beautifully creepy. He takes your childhood photo and stitches in your adult photo to create what he calls an “agemap”. I can’t help but think Texas Chain Saw Massacre when i look at these photos.
