UPPER PLAYGROUND HAS ME THINKING…….

by GuerillaOne on Feb.27, 2009, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD, STREET ART, STREETWEAR

I’m not sure about these t- shirts fam. I appreciate creativity as much as anybody, you know G1 is dedicated to your creativity, but these just aren’t doing it for me. I love munk ones work, but this type of novelty shirt is usually sold out side the staples center or at the slauson super mall. I appreciate the pun in the phelps piece, and I love the irony in the chris brown piece, I think we could have been just fine with just a graphic sent out to all the blogs of the world.

TOYOTA ROLLS OUT A SEAWEED CAR!

by GuerillaOne on Feb.27, 2009, under CARS, Chris Grosso, Goodlife.com, SEXY STUFF, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD

Wrap you brain around this, Toyota introduced a concept car that would out prius the prius. At first glance it looks how you would expect a hybrid concept car to look, but get this, the body is made out of seaweed. I’m not sure how this is possible, if you look at seaweed hard enough it falls apart. I want to know what they are mixing the seaweed with to make the plastic/metal mold. This car will most likely be a euro or Asia exclusive. The car will be officially introduced at the Melbourne Motor Show.

X-BOX x HALO x X-LARGE,NERD CULTURE IS H-O-T!!

by GuerillaOne on Feb.25, 2009, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD, STREET ART, STREETWEAR

Halo teamed up with x-box 360 and street wear brand x-large to create a product bundle to celebrate the release of the latest game in the halo franchise. I’m sure street wear kids will go bananas for this unique team up. Halo is one of the most revered  x-box titles of all time and for the brand to finally step out a collaborate is a huge deal for fans. I love the culture we live in theses days, you never know what you are going to get. Who would have thought an urban brand would collab with a video game and consumers from various backgrounds and interests would be hyped on the same product. This is the result of brands learning to create quality goods for these crossovers, any ass hole can slop together a halo t- shirt, these companies are creating an experience, with detail down to the packaging. Street wear is out Life style is the future.

NEIL GAIMAN KILLS IT IN 3D

by GuerillaOne on Feb.23, 2009, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, STREET ART

Don’t get it twisted, Coraline is serious. This movie takes stop motion to a new level, raising the bar to impossible heights. When you see this movie you understand why it took years to make. G1 will never look at visual story telling the same way, seeing it in 3D created this organic flow that resembled graffiti art. It was bold, vibrant, intricate and yet the art flow was natural and smooth. On the heels of his stardust success, writer,  Neil Gaiman continues to prove that his imagination has no bounds and his ability to stimulate the viewers senses. Henry Selick, who also directed The Nightmare Before Christmas, executed this movie perfectly, the pacing of the story was on point, and the progression of intensity and tension would rival any live action feature. If you appreciate experimentation and top shelf story telling, go see this movie.

Not to mention, we got these fresh kicks inspired by the film.

LOUIS V AND KNOWN GALLERY!!!???

by GuerillaOne on Feb.23, 2009, under COLLABS, Chris Grosso, GRAFFITI, KNOWNGALLERY.COM, PHOTOGRAPHY, SEXY STUFF, SHIT YOU WISH YOU HAD, THE SEVENTH LETTER

Louis Vuitton is making a real effort to generate street cred through graffiti, and you know what, they have G1′s full support. At the end of the day its about making your nut, the more revenue a graffiti artist can generate the more art we can enjoy. With LV expanding their reach it will encourage more brands to do the same and trickle down the fashion food chain. The next few seasons of fashion will be urban based and what better way to execute a theme then with graffiti.

IT IS TIMES LIKE THESE

by GuerillaOne on Feb.23, 2009, under EDDIE DONALDSON, MUSIC, VIDEO

I am a one way motorway
I’m the one that drives away
then follows you back home
I am a street light shining
I’m a wild light blinding bright
burning off alone

it’s times like these you learn to live again
it’s times like these you give and give again
it’s times like these you learn to love again
it’s times like these time and time again

I am a new day rising
I’m a brand new sky
to hang the stars upon tonight
I am a little divided
do I stay or run away
and leave it all behind?

it’s times like these you learn to live again
it’s times like these you give and give again
it’s times like these you learn to love again
it’s times like these time and time again

SLICK RICK

by GuerillaOne on Feb.20, 2009, under Uncategorized

The Ruler: Slick Rick

The Ruler: Slick Rick

It was literally 6 minutes before he was about to hit the stage. I was like the dude at The Foot Locker, only I was at Rain in Las Vegas NV. back stage with Slick Rick asking him what size he wears! K-Swiss tends to run a little large on folks, so I grabbed him a couple pair before he found the perfect ones. Once I had him fitted I skated out fast and went back to handling my business. I knew Doug E Fresh and him were planning a duet, and from the mesanin I could see that Rick was getting ready to go on.
You see, when I had first walked in he had on no gold chains, no eye-patch, his wife was in there helping him with whatever he needed (he asked her very politely for a cup of hot tea). Now that the show was on, he had made the transformation, so I knew at that moment I had an opportunity to be a star myself, and even though I’m not very fond of being the guy to ask someone to pose, I knew I could get a picture for the client.
So, I went back into the dressing room and asked him for the pic. He was very cool getting ready to hit the stage as I came in. I asked him “Hey man, can I get a picture for K-Swiss,” and he said “Yea man,” and sat down in the chair. As I cropped him in my viewfinder I heard Biz’s manager say “that’s perfect.” The flash went off and immediately I knew I had captured a special moment. February 17, 2009
