We’re pleased to announce MR. SPRAY, a new limited edition vinyl figure designed by internationally renowned artist Shepard Fairey!

Mr. Spray is an original character created by the artist in 2004 as a street-art appropriation of an advertising character design of the 1950s. Mr. Spray is the first original vinyl figure design by the artist in eleven years and will be released in mid-July 2010.

This is legit, Shepard continues to do big things.

The commissioned piece will grace the cover of the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards program book, telecast tickets, promotional poster, and 2010 GRAMMY Nominees CD.

A few weeks back we we showed you a preview of the Obey Levi’s collection, and now it appears they are going to have a live art installation. If you live in NY I would jump on this opportunity to see one of the greats doing work.

This limited collection will be released on the 29th of October. The collab, will consists of denim, shirts and graphic t-shirts. Each piece has been hand-customized and original artwork has been created specifically for this collaborative project. Phil, has created a lot of buzz recently around his art, and more importantly his concept and approach to street art. Get what I am saying by clicking here. I have see his pieces pop up here and there around town and I must say, it is a refreshing change of pace, its kind of like cleansing your graffiti pallet. I went to Hug Life to see a variety of phil’s work and soak up the word he has created around his work. It was cute and cuddly for hipsters, it very much represents those who were born in the 80′s and raised in the 90′s.

In honor of MJ’s induction into the Naismith Basket Ball Hall of Fame, Fairey has recreated one of the most memorable moments in Basket Ball history. This is only the beginning, we will see a series of prints recreating memorable moments of MJ’s career. I would be down to see some space jam characters on a print.

“For anyone who has been following my court case in Boston, a resolution has finally been reached. I was originally facing 34 felony charges with a maximum penalty of 87 years in jail. My attorney negotiated a plea deal for me to plead guilty to three misdemeanors and get two years probation and a fine in exchange for all the other charges being dropped. Considering the tremendous waste of time and money so far, this solution seemed the most productive to end a process which could have dragged on considerably and potentially resulted in jail time if things did not go well for me. I’m glad to put this behind me so I can focus on making art and the other positive things in my life. I have no negative feelings toward Boston, my ICA show has been an incredible success with over 100,000 people attending. I’d like to thank the ICA staff who have been great to work with, and also all the Boston property owners who invited me to display my work on their properties. I will be back in Boston on July 31 for Obey Experiment REDUX, a party celebrating the success of the exhibition at the ICA.  I will finally get to DJ at the ICA and my friends Z-Trip and Chuck D will also be performing. After the exhibition closes on 8/16 in Boston, my 20 year survey travels to the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh” wbur.org

A large portion of your friends are immigrants or their parents were.  Kids who grew up in the 80s-90s went to friends house for dinner and got down on some crazy Asian food or some saucy Mexican stew, something as simple as a dinner had a huge impact on our social and cultural lives. Our society has thrived off the culture clash, that is why pop culture is extremely diverse these days. We can not let older generations dictate our future, they dont get it and only pretend to give a shit when cameras are around.
