PATRICK MARTINEZ PRESENTS THE ARIZONA WETBACKS

Artist Patrick Martinez,  connects the dots with the major league baseball team the “Arizona Diamondbacks” and the new immigration law in Arizona to create a subtle but yet hard hitting visual. Martinez teamed up with Quintin to produce three limited hats that work as art pieces and will be shown in a gallery context.

“I created the hat pieces to visually show the connection between the racist republicans that run the “Arizona Diamondbacks”(a major league baseball team) and how they are helping to push the Arizona SB1070 law by generous funding. I re-named the team with the racist inspired name Arizona Wetbacks because I believe it’s more of a fit based on the racist actions the owners are taking with the SB1070 bill which they are helping to advance.I created three hats for the three players on the diamondbacks of latin decent  (Juan Guitterez, Gerardo Parra, and Rodrigo Lopez) that will be celebrated on the field then asked for their papers when they leave it.”

“This bill is a step backwards in terms of progression. It is also a giant slap in the face to the many people that fought for equal rights in the past as well as the present. The SB1070 law has the feeling of the beginning stages of apartheid. This bill should be stopped. Arizona is down with the brown, fo-real.”

2010 World Cup South Africa
This special issue of Arkitip Magazine celebrates the world’s greatest sporting spectacle—the FIFA World Cup—seen through the eyes of New York City’s own Chinatown Soccer Club with support from official FIFA sponsor adidas.

Founded in 2002, the Chinatown Soccer Club is a crew of artists, photographers, designers, writers, skateboarders and like-minded creative individuals. This diverse collective, united by a passion for this beautiful game, converges on New York City’s Chinatown year-round in all weather and seasons for friendly morning matches before heading to work.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international football tournament. It is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. The World Cup is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, where an estimated 715.1 million people watched the final match of the 2006 World Cup held in Germany. Italy’s team are defending champions.

As usual, none of the sick architecture goes down in America, the progressive/innovative work always takes place in some obscure location with loose building codes and laws.

“The ‘everrich 2′ apartments by vietnamese dwp architects is a housing complex which
measures 630,000 square meters, and reaches a height of 37 storeys. in total,
there are 3,100 apartment units ranging from 120 to 250 square meters each,
with two floors of mixed retail and public space on the ground level. the project aims to be
a self-sustaining community in district 7, ho chi minh city, and construction has already
begun with approval from local authorities.”

CRYPTIK! THE HARDEST WORKING ARTIST IN DOWN TOWN LA

by CHRIS GROSSO on May.31, 2010, under ART, Chris Grosso, GRAFFITI, PHOTOGRAPHY, STREET ART

Odds are, if you live, work or frequent Down Town LA, you have already seen this particular piece, a lot! Cryptik’s, writing, designs and characters can be seen on almost every intersection of DTLA.

I have been working in DTLA for about two years now and Cryptik ran the poster game then and he goes even harder today.

When in doubt, use porn stars to promote your threads. My onl problem with naked broads on a T Shirt is that there is no place to wear them.
